Few and far between are the consignment recreational vehicles we covet. Our 2006 Gulf Stream Vista Cruiser Mini is by far one of the finest examples of a motorhome we’ve had to date. Many individuals buy RVs but few genuinely make them their own, not our previous owner. The entire camper has been redone with a two toned paint job inside and out, gleaming bright white on top and a dark gray accenting the skirt and trimmings. The rear of the camper still retains its namesake with an included 2 kayak tow hitch mount. Our Vista Cruiser Mini is host to many spacious compartments with convenient and intuitive maintenance access, in which you’ll find an additional main battery disconnect as well as a custom three stage water filtration setup you’d normally find in luxury homes. Speaking of batteries and filters, they’re all brand new.
All this glory perched atop new tires and a Mercedes Benz Sprinter chassis driven by the 316 CDI diesel engine sporting a brand new OEM turbo. I must also say it’s a breeze to drive, you don’t feel like you’re in a motorhome behind the wheel, and the diesel mileage doesn’t hurt like one either.
The cockpit is spacious with the floor drop being steeper than your typical motor-coach, giving you ample head and elbow room. Aftermarket creature comforts and wireless tire pressure sensors are a nice touch. With large windows on all sides and deep seats to cradle you on long journeys, you may as well be in a space shuttle. Crossing the threshold of the Vista Cruiser reflects that tenfold, with cool gray vinyl flooring leading into cozy fabric trimmed seating, accented on all sides by ivory and gray trim. In its compact package of 23 feet the Vista Cruiser Mini sleeps up to 6 with the convertible dinette and sofa, alongside the full bed cabover with a raised ceiling. The floorspace is enormous with the slide out extended so the coach never feels cramped.
Our Vista Cruiser Mini is so far removed from what it originally was, it's in a class all its own. The only original elements of the coach are the upholstery, parts of the bathroom, and layout. All cabinetry has been replaced in favor of luxury custom cabinets by J&K in gray and white, half of which have gorgeous glass faces. Gulf Stream’s old interior design has been done away with in favor of a more minimalist look with modern household light fixtures, switches, and wall outlets. High quality insulation has been installed throughout the camper which when combined with the plexiglass windows makes the coach incredibly comfortable and puts far less strain on the furnace and air conditioner. Not that they need help as your 30 amp power connection and whisper quiet propane generator are more than enough to power the Cruiser.
The kitchen is marvelous for the size of the coach, new propane stovetop and oven, a refrigerator/freezer, and a new upgraded slim super-wide whirlpool microwave. If that wasn’t enough it's also got a real tile backsplash and a new sink. In the rear the Vista Cruiser retains most of its original bathroom, toilet, vanity, and sink; but the shower has been remodeled with real penny tile on the walls and halo accent lighting on the ceiling.
The real treat for this RV is the spirit of adventure and exploration it carries with it. How about a few dings and dents on the coach so you don’t feel bad for adding one or two more? Or the dual kayak mount just begging to be used, and your front bumper mounted tow hook encourages mildly risky endeavors in remote locations. The previous owner even threw in a variety of wheel chocks and pads with a shovel and a collapsible rake so you can make any spot a parking spot.
With all the love that’s gone into this motorhome it opens the door for so much more expansion and customization so that you too could make it your own, the sky’s the limit with this camper. Reach for the stars in the cockpit of The Vista Cruiser today.
