Seldom do large campers of age see multiple decades and still retain their original spirit. The roof goes yellow, the ceiling goes bad, water creeps in somewhere, the paint fades, and the miles are not kind. Today here at Art’s RV we have an absolute gem that breaks that mold. Our 2003 Winnebago Itasca Suncruiser 35U is by far one of the most pristine early 2000’s campers we’ve ever laid eyes upon. The paint still reflects light like a mirror, the roof is so white it waters the eyes when you look at it. The interior? Where others fade and decay, our Suncruiser stays true.
On the outside the Class A motorhome is picturesque, the bright Jaguar Blue paint wraps the entire lower half of the unit, interrupted by tasteful accent striping that draws the eyes all over the camper, with bright white paint on top to make the camper stand out. Much like the luxurious tour bus that it is, you’re given a vast array of storage compartments around the skirt of the coach. My favorite feature by far is the driver’s entry and exit door making getting in and out of the cockpit a breeze. The split down the center of the windshield is a nice touch as well, so if a rock ever jumps up at you on the interstate replacing the windshield won’t break the bank.
The interior is even more fun and exciting than the outside. Starting at the cockpit you’re met with the epitome of comfort with the Flexsteel leather upholstered adjustable seating, in front of you is a cornucopia of controls and switches giving one a generous amount of control both while driving and as soon as you stop. You’ve also got two chrome ceiling mounted fans to supplement your air conditioner for the most amount of comfort going down the road. Above all this sits the entertainment center complete with flat screen TV as well as speaker controls. On the topic of speakers the Suncruiser comes fully equipped with a Pioneer surround sound audio system backed up by two subwoofers in the coach, and 5 chirpers positioned in the cockpit as well as the coach.
Descending further into the camper you’re met by one of the nicest living areas and one could find in an RV. The upholstery hasn’t aged a day since it was christened, and the previous caretakers took the liberty of removing the captain's chair and cabinet that would normally sit behind the passenger’s seat. Fear not as you’re not losing out, if anything this is a vast improvement opening up the front of the Suncruiser immensely. You wouldn’t understand until you collapse the motorized couch out to its fully extended bed that can sleep two people up to 6’2” tall, a great feat for the spare bed in a motorhome.
The kitchen and dinette in this beauty are equally as gorgeous and pristine as everything else. With Corian stone countertops, chrome faucet on a two basin sink, microwave, oven, three burner stovetop, and the cabinet faced refrigerator/freezer, it’ll be like you never left your kitchen at home. The bathroom carries with it that same energy, hosting plentiful cabinetry and a walk in shower complete with a glass door and skylight. It’s even got a fold down seat if you just want to sit down, relax, and enjoy the space.
At the rear end of the Suncruiser is an immaculate bedroom , which is made enormous thanks to the bed slide out. You’ve even got a vanity desk featuring mirrors that can be slid to both sides opening up a vast window. This coupled with the wall mounted TV make it superior to most hotels. Certainly better than the Red Roof Inn or LaQuinta, I’d even put it up against the majority of Four Seasons.
Our 2003 Winnebago Itasca Suncruiser 35U is a vintage. Not the patina rust dusty vintage, no. This is a vintage we’ve brought up from the cellar, out of the private reserve. Rarely if ever do campers such as this age like a fine wine or whisky. Come and get a taste before it’s gone for good.
